CNN News aired a feature on all its stations predicting the space ventures that the year 2001 might bring. Along with famed scientist and author Arthur C. Clark, CNN interviewed TransOrbital, Inc. President Dennis Laurie, and focused attention on the commercialization of space. TransOrbital_® featured in CNN Headline News' series "2001: A Space Prophecy", aired in five parts from December 26 - December 30, 2000. The segment featuring TransOrbital aired on December 28 at 6:30 am, 9:30 am, 1:30 pm, 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 6:00 pm, 8:30 pm, 11:00 pm, 12:30 am (Dec 29), 2:30 am, and 4:30 am. Established in 1998, TransOrbital_® ( http://www.transorbital.net) intends to win the new "Race to the Moon" by being the first company to orbit the Moon with a completely commercial spacecraft, 2001 TrailBlazer_TM. The spacecraft's prime mission is to return HDTV video and other multi-media content from lunar orbit to market as commercial products. The spacecraft will also deliver a time capsule to the moon, carrying small cargo items such as personal memorabilia and business cards.

The 2001 TrailBlazer_TM Project is a for-profit space venture.
